Winter weddings at Gosfield Hall

Hey there lovebirds! I’m Chris Woodman Photography and today I’m going to tell why I think winter weddings at Gosfield Hall is the Perfect choice for engaged couples thinking of booking this wonderful gem in the Essex countryside.

I’ll show you a winter wedding I shot in November this year. It was Emma & Leon’s lavish celebration, but first, let’s dive in to the benefits of booking winter weddings at Gosfield Hall:

Plenty of benefits and Emma and Leon agreed 🙂 Let’s take a look at how their day unfolded. I’ll always arrive early to capture the morning exterior shots and I was greeted with a beautiful winter sun on the building:

From gorgeous winter exteriors to capturing Leon and his groomsmen getting ready in the grand salon. I’ll often choose the grand salon for getting ready scenes in favour of the grandeur of the room and stunning decor. It really adds to the strength of the winter wedding gallery at Gosfield hall.

We have the option of using the kings apartment too for the groomsmen getting ready. We headed up to that room for a quiet moment where the bride had written the groom an emotional letter before the ceremony.

Now, if you’re considering a winter wedding at Gosfield Hall, you’ll be taken a back with the beauty and grandeur of the Roccoco suite exclusive to the bride and her bridesmaids. It’s tucked away on the second floor where there’s no need for anyone on the day to accidentally stroll in and see something they shouldn’t.

It’s a breathtaking room with so much space and floor to ceiling mirrors. I love shooting the morning session in here. You have everything you need to make amazing memories.

Just incredible scenes and a strong stand alone reason why you should book a winter wedding here at Gosfield Hall.

On to the ceremony and Emma and Leon chose the inviting queens gallery or (long hall) as I like to call it. It has dark wood panels, an expensive, almost royal carpet, and eye catching chandeliers  running through the middle.

I had the luxury of joining the wedding guests and the groomsmen early at the front of the ceremony room to capture the mood before the bride made her big entrance. The queens gallery is perfect for winter wedding photography at Gosfield Hall because it feels cozy regardless of what the weather may be doing outside.

Leon was feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of seeing his future wife walk down the aisle. This is like gold for a wedding photographer at Gosfield Hall. I love natural, raw moments. You can’t ask for that to happen. It just happens naturally and it’s beautiful.

This was indeed a cold weather wedding at Gosfield Hall, but, my couples often want to utilise all the spaces that this venue offers. With that in mind, Emma and Leon opted for a confetti shot in the courtyard by the famous blue door. The alternative to that is to have your confetti back down the aisle if that suits you better for your big day.

The courtyard is a lovely choice though, and it allowed us to whisk the couple away for a few quiet moments together while the guests grabbed a much needed drink.

There are so many Gosfield Hall stunning winter backdrops, you really are spoilt for choice. The couple wanted to keep it as natural and authentic as possible, so we really just captured what they chose to do and it worked really well.

I’m always fully aware that Gosfield Hall seasonal wedding photography can be a little nippy from November onwards, so it’s important for us to be quick and keep the energy. Nothing too posed and nothing awkward. We want to see couples doing what they would normally do in each others company.

There was more to capture in the grand salon. This is one of my favourite rooms in the whole venue. The large window bays and gold leaf edging sets this apart from many other places in Essex. Here’s a few winter wedding ideas at Gosfield Hall in the grand salon:

Once you have the couple shots, candid guest shots in the library and the group shots covered, it’s time to go up to the royal ballroom for your winter wedding at Gosfield Hall. This room is very grand and Seats up to 116 guests under crystal chandeliers. It’s the location for the speeches either before or after the meal.

We were about to make our way up the stairs when we noticed the last knockings of a winter sunset. The couple were keen to go outside by the fountain and create memories. We were so lucky to have this, and the quality of light in winter is far superior to summer. Here’s some winter wedding inspiration at Gosfield Hall during sunset:

The speeches were really emotional and it made for some incredibly raw photographs that told the real story of the day:

Now the next section of the day once the speeches were done even threw me. In 10 years of being a Gosfield Hall winter wedding photographer, I’ve never captured a cutting of the cake and first dance in the grand salon. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know that this was an option for the couple because nobody had ever chose this for their big day before.

I totally get their decision because there’s more room for the guests and it also keeps the consistency going from the whole day. Emma and Leon wanted to keep that grand feel and it worked out perfectly:

We did eventually make it to the dedicated party area next to the bar. We had some outgoing guests that felt comfortable showing us their moves. There was some good energy in the room and a great way to finish my coverage for the day.
