Why Couples Love Blake Hall for Their Wedding Photos

One thing I absolutely adore about Blake Hall is how versatile and photogenic it is. As the best wedding photographer for Blake Hall Ongar, I’ve been lucky to capture some stunning moments here.

Couples often tell me how much they love the relaxed, romantic vibe of their photos—something I always aim to capture with natural wedding photography at Blake Hall Essex.

I’d like to show you a real full day wedding I photographed at Blake Hall for the lovely couple Kelsie & Sam in the summer of 2025.

As a Blake hall wedding photographer, I enjoy the layout of this venue. It’s fairly small, but well run and it manages to keep the bride away from prying eyes while everyone takes their seats in the ceremony room.

Kelsie and Sam opted for the barn to tie the knot. It’s warm and inviting and well placed so you can enjoy drinks and canapés immediately outside the doors of the ceremony room on the lawn. The ceremony was emotional and beautifully carried out.

My Blake Hall wedding photography really starts to take shape when the guests meet the bride and groom for the first time after the ceremony. Kelsie and Sam chose to stand at the exit of the ceremony to meet and greet their guests individually. This creates a high energy moment between the couple and each of their guests. Perfect to capture many of the people attending during the day. I shoot completely candid and unobtrusive at this time and the results are stunning.

Blake Hall really knows how to dress a room using it’s rustic barn feel as the theme. Kelsie and Sam added their personal touches that took the vibe to another level. I’ll often shoot the reception room once the energy of the drinks and canapés drops a little. Take a look at how they dressed their reception room. My Blake Hall wedding photography looked amazing once they finished dressing this room 🙂

Now, although I mentioned Blake Hall is a more intimate, smaller wedding venue n Essex, it does open up for the wedding couple during their couple shots. The owners kindly allow the couple and your wedding photographer at Blake Hall to use the grounds next to their personal residence. This provides a backdrop that is as good as anything that the county has to offer. As a Blake Hall wedding photographer, this is a dream come true. I thoroughly enjoy the contrast in locations to give the wedding memories more depth. The scenes become rural, peaceful and secluded away from the hustle and bustle of the guests near the ceremony room. Here’s a little taste of what’s possible at Blake Hall:

The time after the ceremony literally flies by for my Blake Hall wedding photography. Typically you can expect between 90 minutes to 2 hours for your drinks, group shots and couple shots before seating for your meal. The couple were super organised, so this didn’t seem too much of a rush. Kelsie and Sam were so relaxed and that allowed me to capture everything we needed in good time.

The speeches were after the meal and were very personal, funny and charming. Everyone has a great view of the top table with the way the barn works.

Blake Hall wedding photography looks amazing both inside and outside this wedding venue. After the speeches, the guests made their way back out to the lawn where they had initially had their canapés immediately after the ceremony. This is generally the best light and a much more relaxed vibe once everyone has been fed and watered. People tend to let their hair down after the meal and that works for me 🙂

Blake Hall weddings always flow nicely in my experience. You won’t have to worry about where you need to be or what’s happening next. The team there are exceptional at guiding you through your day, so that leaves you to enjoy the experience with your guests

As the light drops towards the evening, I’ll introduce extra lighting to add dimension and interest on the dance floor. The best wedding photographers at Blake Hall always offer something a little more. Here’s how Kelsie and Sam’s first dance looked once I added my lights. The Blake Hall wedding photography went up a notch:

My Blake Hall wedding photography finished with some high energy dancing and a change of clothes from the bride to entertain the guests. We had a special choreographed line dance from the ladies to start it all off and I loved how they added their own spin on the evening activities.
