ORSETT HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

As an Orsett Hall Wedding Photographer, I’ve enjoyed going back to this wonderful location since the inception of my business 11 years ago. I’ve seen this venue grow and change for the better to give couples a fine experience for their big day.

One of the biggest draws to Orsett Hall is it’s grand history dating back to the 17th century when the original building was constructed as a grand country residence for the wealthy English gentry. The hall has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years, but still retains many of its original architectural features.

In the late 18th century, Orsett Hall was purchased by the Whitbread family, who made extensive renovations to the property, adding wings to the main building and landscaping the surrounding grounds to create a picturesque estate.

In the early 20th century, Orsett Hall was sold to the Buxton family, who further enhanced the property by adding a grand staircase and ballroom, as well as a formal landscaped garden. The hall became a popular venue for weddings and social events, attracting high-profile guests from across the country.

In the mid-20th century, Orsett Hall was converted into a hotel and conference centre, providing luxurious accommodations and amenities for guests. The hall continued to host weddings and events, becoming a beloved venue for couples looking to celebrate their special day in a historic and elegant setting.

My Orsett Hall wedding photography has got better and better over the years as we’ve seen the venue undertake these incredible changes. The William and Mary Suite is a favourite of mine with it’s dark wood and royal-esque vibes. The interior design makes it attractive for both couples and wedding photographers alike.

Orsett Hall boasts a secluded chapel where couples can tie the knot. It’s an all in one solution that makes logistics seamless for it’s wedding guests. On this occasion, however, my couple had opted to get married at a Church in Dagenham, Essex due to sentimental reasons. The brides mother and grandmother both got married there in times gone by, so it was fitting that the third generation enjoyed the same experience.

Once the ceremony had finished, the couple had a big red London bus waiting for their guests to take them back to Orsett Hall. I managed to beat the bus back to the venue and photograph the reception room details. As an Orsett Hall wedding photographer, it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful the rooms look when you have all the couples detail choices displayed. They went for the classic and timeless black and white vibe and it suited the chapel suite nicely.

We had a champagne cart for the wedding guests and a wedding singer for entertainment during the drinks and canapés. Orsett Hall also has a range of outdoor spaces for your ceremony or reception, including the picturesque lawn area and the beautiful courtyard – ideal for al fresco celebrations.

You also have options for a larger wedding – The Grand Ballroom is the largest space at Orsett Hall, accommodating up to 520 guests for a seated reception. This elegant room features high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and a stunning staircase. My couple had a relatively smaller event, so they opted for the Chapel Suite which is a charming option for up to 120 guests. This room boasts original stained glass windows and a private bar, perfect for a romantic ceremony or reception.

The couple had finally arrived at the Orsett Hall wedding venue in Essex after having trouble with traffic. It was a busy Saturday afternoon where everyone was seemingly on the road at the same time, but they got there in the end in need of a drink! I took a few candid moments in front of the big red London bus and left the couple to mingle.

At this point, I knew that my Orsett Hall wedding photography was looking really strong. We had a beautiful morning session, followed by an emotional ceremony, and now the guests were in for a treat as their wedding singer serenaded them during the meal. The speeches came first and they were very personal to the couple. A few tears here and there and plenty of laughs ensured that the wedding photography was rich in fine moments for the couple to reminisce in years to come.

Orsett Hall is a beautiful 4-star hotel set in 12 acres of landscaped gardens, and once I saw a sunset appear in the distance over the trees, I suggested to the couple that we should take advantage of this and get some couples shots. They had saved a bottle of champagne and wanted to do a champagne spray in the grounds. It turned out great and set the tone of the photo session by relaxing them. They were really good together and didn’t need much guidance. My Orsett Hall wedding photographer approach to couples is to simply guide if needed and don’t get too hung up on posing. It feels wooden to me and less authentic. I’d rather let the couples be themselves so I can see their real personalities shine through. I was really happy with what we captured in the 10 mins we took with the couple.

Back at the Chapel Suite, the DJ was ready to get the party started. The couple has opted to cut the cake on their own as a more low key event before taking centre stage with their first dance. You could see that they were all in and very happy to show their emotions in front on their guests.

The party continued as I wrapped up my coverage at the Orsett Hall wedding venue. Time had flown by and we ended up with a strong set of images for the couple to enjoy.
