Will & Kathryn wowed their few guests with their stunning Orsett, Essex wedding even when all the cards were stacked against them.
When I first met Will & Kathryn at their family home surrounded by farmland in Orsett, Essex, I was struck by their enthusiasm to push through and go ahead with the wedding at the last minute and during a worldwide pandemic. It was really refreshing actually.
Vendors and helpers were all whizzing around while we walked around the grounds the day before the big day.
My day actually started just down the road at the best man’s home. It was an upbeat atmosphere considering the circumstances and I was pretty much done with the groomsmen coverage within 15 minutes.
There’s always plenty more going on with the ladies. Kathryn chose to get ready in the family lounge area with her 2 bridesmaids. We had the arrival of Nan shortly after my arrival which was a lovely moment. The flowers followed and Kathryn’s response was like photographic gold.
We were all wedding ready in just a few short hours and I just had time to capture a couple of bridal portraits and a few family memories before we headed off to church.
It was windy but the sun was out so it wasn’t all bad news on the weather front. We had a few guests waiting for the bride’s arrival outside the church. Unfortunately, because of the restrictions at the time, they weren’t allowed in to witness the ceremony and they weren’t going to miss out completely.
The service was lovely. It was a shame the guests were obliged to wear masks but that didn’t take anything away from how the couple felt to be husband and wife.
We shot back to the family home after the ceremony and they had a wonderful marquee constructed in their back garden that set the scene for the reception.
I whisked the couple away while we still had pretty good light. Kathryn’s dad had a bridge installed over their pond just in time for the wedding so we just had to use it.
It was very windy to be fair so we opted for the warmth of the marquee after these shots for champagne and a few speeches.
While all this good stuff was going on, I had noticed that we were in for a stunning sunset that was actually unexpected. The couple were really up for capturing this moment and it didn’t disappoint.
The evening celebrations had started and the guests enjoyed cocktails, dancing and plenty of laughter. Who says you can’t have fun with restrictions in place?
So there the you it. The proof is in the pudding. A stunning Orsett wedding during a worldwide pandemic. I’m Chris Woodman, an Orsett wedding photographer.
Will and Kathryn were a fine example of how to get married during a pandemic and still enjoy every moment with those closest to them. I wish them all the very best for the future 🙂
Until next time guys
Stay safe
~Chris
